This Privacy Policy explains how ExpatWires (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use this website.

What we collect

Email address — when you subscribe to the newsletter or complete a quiz that captures your email.

Quiz responses — when you complete interactive tools (city match quiz, visa comparison), your answers and results are stored in Cloudflare D1 so we can send you a personalized email. Individual results are retained for up to 12 months for analysis, then deleted. Results are never sold or shared with third parties.

Usage data — standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. This is collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare Workers) and retained for a short period for security and performance purposes.

We do not collect: phone numbers, physical addresses, payment information, or social media account data. We do not offer account creation or social login.

How we use your data

  • To send the newsletter — if you subscribe, we add your email to our mailing list managed by Resend. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.
  • To send quiz results — if you provide your email in a quiz, we send one personalized result email and (with consent) add you to the newsletter list.
  • To improve the site — aggregate, anonymized usage data helps us understand which content and tools are most useful.
  • To fulfill legal obligations — we may retain data if required by applicable law.

Infrastructure and data processors

Your data is processed and stored on the following infrastructure:

  • Cloudflare Workers — the site runs on Cloudflare’s edge network. Cloudflare processes requests globally and may log traffic data per their Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare D1 — a SQLite database hosted on Cloudflare’s network. Email addresses and quiz results are stored here.
  • Resend — our email delivery provider. Subscriber emails are stored in Resend’s audience. Resend’s Privacy Policy governs their handling of this data.

Cookies

This site uses minimal cookies. We do not run third-party advertising or analytics that set tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future (e.g., Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-preserving and does not use cookies), this policy will be updated.

Data retention

Email addresses are retained as long as you remain subscribed. You may unsubscribe at any time, after which your email is removed from active mailings. Quiz results stored in D1 are retained for up to 12 months, then deleted.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you by emailing support@expatwires.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be noted with an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
