ExpatWires is a content and tools site for Americans who want to retire or relocate abroad — and actually want to do the math first.
What we do
We publish visa guides, cost-of-living breakdowns, and retirement calculators focused on Spain. Every article is reviewed by a tax advisor, immigration lawyer, or relocation consultant who is actively working with expats in Spain today.
The site launched in 2024 as a WordPress blog. In 2026 we rebuilt it from scratch on Astro, deployed on Cloudflare Workers, with interactive tools (NLV qualifier, visa comparison, city match quiz) that run at the edge.
Who writes this
Larry from ExpatWires. I’ve spent the last several years researching the retire-abroad calculus — income floors, tax treaties, healthcare costs, visa renewal rules — and wanted a place that did the honest math without the relocation-services upsell.
